Hello Families
Can you believe that we are half way through Kindergarten?  You should be so proud of how much your student has grown!!  I know I am!!  I can’t wait to share this information with you at parent/teacher conferences coming up in February.  More information to come home soon!!!
 
Don’t forget Mondays are Library day!!  Send those books back!!!
Tuesdays and Thursday are PE send gym shoes please.  Snow boots are difficult to run in.  
Wednesdays and Fridays are Music;  Please send regular street shoes for Music class movement games.  
 
We are still looking for volunteers to help out next week Tues.15th -Thurs. morning 9:00-10:00 with glazing the clay owls the classes made ! Please email me if you can help out! Thanks!
 
 
ELA:  You will be getting new sight word lists this week.  Remember you do not have to send these back.  They are for you to keep.  
Keep reading and sending our “books in the bags” back for new ones as soon as they are “mastered”.  
 
We will be “testing” the kids on their knowledge of material taught to date,  and taking tests, so please give the kids a healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks in the next few weeks so they will have brain power!!
 
Math:  We are working on adding and subtracting and things that are equal and unequal.  You can have the kids adding dinner plates, subtracting socks…have fun with chores and math!!!

Please Keep sending warm clothes for recess!!!  We have a little snow to play in:).  Recess occurs unless the temperature is below 0 (including wind chill) Please make sure to write your child’s name in coats, snowpants, boots, hats, and gloves. 
 
Keep sending snacks for the afternoons, they still are hungry at 2:00 and we will keep having snacks at that time.  
 
Practice tying shoes! Google “teaching shoe tying” for lots of new tips and tricks that are great for teaching kids!

 Noon Dismissal Thursday, Jan. 18th (no lunch is served on this day) 
NO SCHOOL Friday, Jan. 19th
 Literacy Night in the Library Thursday, Jan. 25th , 6:00-7:00. The theme is Hot Cocoa and Books! Stop by and have a cup of hot cocoa and read a story and visit with others.  All Jefferson families welcome!
 
Kindergarten Teachable Moments Tues. Jan. 30th 6:00-7:00. We will be creating some “make and take” reading games! Come to Mrs. Putnam’s classroom and meet other Kindergarten families and make some fun educational games to take home.  Open to all Jefferson Kindergarten families!
Parent/Teacher conferences Feb 6 or 8 from 3:15 to 7:00 pm.  more information to come soon.
